| THE STORY: |
| Edgar is the king of the country Figaro, and the master of the mechanical Figaro Castle. He played a major part in the resistance against the Ghestal Empire, doing his best to supply aid and weapons to the Returners while all the time pretending to side with the Empire so they would be none the wiser. Eventually the Empire attacked his kingdom and put it under martial law. This is what happened to most countries during the Magitek War. It wasn't until after the fall of the manipulator and eventual destroyer of the Empire, General Kefka, that Figaro and other places were free. The cost was great though: the world was nearly destroyed. The water and the air were poisoned, the land completely rearranged, the cities ravanged, population decimated and the vegitation withered. Despite all of this, life continued to prevail and even improve, since a planet has the ability to heal itself with time. Only a year passed since Kefka's fall and already the remaining major countries of the world have rebounded. Figaro has come out towards the top of the list, its more advanced technology and strong economy helping it survive along with give aid to the crippled nations of the world. This is why Edgar hadn't followed his twin brother Sabin when he had left. There was much to do, and although Edgar would've liked to have gone with his brother he simply couldn't. He waited almost a full year until he saw that Figaro was going strong, and that it would do fine without its king. Just this once Edgar wanted to do something for himself instead of for others; Edgar was normally selfless and never asked anything for himself in return. Learning what he could from Sabin's letters, he set out to find Candor University in hopes of teaching there and being reunited with both his brother and with his friend Terra. |
